About the book
Jupiter's Travels is his account of what followed: four years on the road, across continents and through dozens of countries, from Europe and Africa to the Americas, Asia and Australia.
The book is as much about the rider as the route. Simon writes about the people who fed, sheltered and occasionally suspected him, the changing politics of the places he crossed, and how months alone on a motorcycle altered the way he saw himself. First published in 1979, it has since been cited as an inspiration by later long-distance riders. Mileage and country counts vary between sources, so treat any single figure with caution.
