Part of the prestigious Collins New Naturalist series, the longest-running and arguably the most influential natural history series in the world with over 100 volumes published in over 60 years.

Between 1948 and 1971, alongside the mainstream New Naturalist volumes on broad subjects such as wild flowers, insects or National Parks, a parallel series of monographs on single species or related groups was also published. For over forty years these best-selling volumes have been unavailable – until now.

The New Naturalist monographs shared the same high standards as the main series, presented as accessible books of about 50,000 words in a smaller, more intimate format. Artists Clifford and Rosemary Ellis created the same stunning, distinctive cover illustrations that helped inspire an entire new generation of nature enthusiasts.

This edition of The Badger, the first volume in the monograph series, is produced from an original copy by William Collins, bringing this classic work back to readers who have long sought it.
